Our high school ministry is focused on helping people to know and love God. We seek to help each other desire to grow in closeness in our relationship with Christ Jesus, as well as grow in our friendships with one another. It's within the community as a family of believers that we are stronger together. We talk about current cultural concerns, look at the big life questions, talk about why faith in Jesus matters, and show what it looks like to live out our faith in a world that is ever growing in godlessness. We want everyone to know they are loved. We want them to see and appreciate the beautiful rich traditions we posses as Catholics, the grace and power of the sacraments, what it means to be a beloved child of God made in His image, how to pray, and how to keep in step with the Holy Spirit. Our high school ministry is a place where ALL are welcome! Whether you are Catholic or not, Confirmed or not, or just plain curious, in the words of our Lord and Savior, 'Come and see!'
High School Ministry's (HSM) weekly event is called "Life Night." After the 5:00 pm Sunday Mass, we gather in the Holy Family Center where we eat dinner, and have time to connect and socialize. After we eat we have time in worship, a reading from scripture, prayer, and a short talk on the reading and the topic. Then we break into small groups for discussion with study questions to go on a deeper level in what the Word of God may be speaking to us.
Too many of us are anxious about a good many things in our cultural moment. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." -John 14:27 Life Night is a refuge of peace from our busy schedules and all of life's many distractions.
Our goal is to help one another see how the study and application of God's Word, the teachings of the Church, prayer, and the Holy Spirit are essential for us to grow in spiritual maturity and grow in our walks of faith. This is a place to bring your questions, invite your friends, wrestle through your doubts, have some fun, and come to know the love of God the Father. Wherever you may be in your faith and place in life, you are always welcome here.
